Chocoholics assemble!
Discover the art of chocolate decorating on this silky-smooth chocolate making workshop.
Your experience will be led by Master Chocolatiers, and to start the session you’ve be given a brief history of chocolate making, and the processes used from bean to bar!
You’ll then sample unusual tasters, such as 100% pure chocolate and raw cocoa nibs. The different textures and flavours will really tickle the taste buds!
Next, you’ll start your decorating. You’ll first design a giant chocolate button, using dipping forks to create a gorgeous marble effect, just like the professionals do. Then, you’ll try your hand at some fresh truffle making. The rest of the session will be spent sculpting, cutting and making edible works of art using milk choc fudge, dark chocolate ganache and bowls of thick dripping melted chocolate.
By the time you go home, you’ll have around 15 different treats that you’ve made to take with you, along with your tasty giant button. Now, you can take these home and give them to your loved ones if you’d like, but our recommendation is taking some nice pictures and keeping every last one for yourself!

What did you get up to?
The Chocolatier and host of the day, Gina, was funny, welcoming and very friendly. It was a fun, informative and jam-packed day. After a quick health and safety briefing, I learned about the history of chocolate, and Gina talked us through a detailed demonstration of how to tell the difference between good and bad quality chocolate. Our chocolatier showed us a handful of professional decorating techniques and also explained a variety of alternative methods in combining ingredients.
I found it particularly helpful that before we sat down and had a go ourselves, the chocolatier warned us of the common mistakes that people tend to make. We even got to have a taste of pure chocolate. I went home with a giant decorated chocolate button, which made for a great personalised present for a friend, as well as chocolate truffles and chocolate covered hand-made fudge which I polished off when I got home! The only downside to this experience was that for health and safety reasons, we only had one opportunity to lick the chocolate off the spoon!
What did you enjoy the most?
Definitely trying out my handmade chocolates! I was surprised at how tasty they were. Perhaps I've missed my calling?!
